At a glance

What it backs

Metaversefirst, not ported

The selection criterion. A project designed for the medium behaves differently from one adapted to it.

3advisory tracks

Technology, business model and go to market, because a metaverse project usually needs all three.

Day onethe requirement

Built for the medium from the start rather than retrofitted once it exists.

Advisorsnot just capital

The team advises the incubatees directly rather than only funding them.

The brief

Most metaverse projects were something else first

During the metaverse cycle the majority of projects were ports: an existing product, business or brand experience moved into a 3D space because the space had become interesting. Those consistently underperformed, because they carried assumptions from a medium with different physics.

A project designed for the metaverse from day one makes different choices everywhere — about presence, ownership, economy and what a session even is. Those projects were rarer, and they were the ones worth backing.

A ported product brings the assumptions of the medium it left.

The build

An incubator built by operators

MetaFactory's advantage is that the advice comes from a team that built the adjacent products rather than from investors observing the category. Social.li, MetaPort, MetaMeets, Movy and Metaverse-List were all built in house, which means the guidance offered to incubatees is drawn from having made those decisions.

The team advises across technology, business model and go to market, which is the right span for early metaverse projects: a technically sound product with no viable economy fails just as reliably as the reverse.

What incubatees get

Three tracks of advice

Technology

Architecture and build guidance from a team that has shipped across six chains and multiple metaverse products, which is where most first-time projects lose time.

Business model

How value actually circulates in a metaverse-native product, which is rarely the model the founders arrived with.

Go to market

Reaching an audience inside a medium where conventional acquisition channels mostly do not apply.

Questions

MetaFactory, answered

What is MetaFactory?

An incubator for projects built for the metaverse from day one rather than ported into it. The Wow Labz team advises incubatees across technology, business model and go to market strategy.

What does 'metaverse first' mean?

That the project was designed for the medium from the start. Ported products carry assumptions from wherever they came from, about presence, ownership, economy and what a session is.

What kind of support do incubatees get?

Advisory across three tracks: technology, business model and go to market strategy.

Why is Wow Labz running an incubator?

Because the advice comes from having built the adjacent products in house, including Social.li, MetaPort, MetaMeets, Movy and Metaverse-List.
