At a glance

Who gets paid

NFTper upload

Videos are uploaded as NFTs, so the creator holds the asset rather than licensing it to a platform.

Watchto earn

Attention is the thing being rewarded, on both sides of the screen.

Social.liunderneath

Built on the interoperable metaverse protocol rather than as a standalone silo.

Ownershipstays with the creator

Which is the structural difference from every mainstream short video platform.

The brief

Short video made attention valuable and gave creators none of it

The short video format solved distribution completely and ownership not at all. A creator uploads to a platform, the platform owns the distribution, the audience relationship and effectively the asset, and pays out at whatever rate it decides that quarter.

Creators noticed. What they have lacked is an alternative where the economics are a property of the system rather than a policy the platform can revise.

On a normal platform the creator rents their own audience. The terms change without notice.

The build

The protocol is the argument

Building Movy on Social.li rather than standalone is what makes the ownership claim mean anything. An NFT issued inside a closed platform is still a database row the platform controls; issued on shared protocol infrastructure, it is an asset that outlives the application.

It also demonstrates the protocol. Social.li's proposition is that applications built on it share users and assets rather than trapping them, and Movy is the practical case for that rather than a description of it.

What it changes

Ownership, earnings, protocol

Videos as NFTs

Uploading as an NFT means the creator keeps ownership of the asset itself, not a licence to it that a platform grants and can withdraw.

Earning from attention

Creators earn from the attention a video draws, and viewers earn for watching. Both sides of the exchange are recognised rather than only one.

Powered by Social.li

Built on Wow Labz's interoperable metaverse protocol, so Movy is an application on shared infrastructure rather than another walled platform.

Questions

Movy, answered

What is Movy?

A watch to earn dApp powered by the Social.li protocol, built around short engaging videos. Users upload videos as NFTs and earn from the attention they draw.

What does uploading as an NFT change?

The creator keeps ownership of the asset rather than holding a licence a platform grants and can withdraw. On a conventional platform the creator effectively rents their own audience.

Who earns?

Creators earn from the attention their videos draw, and viewers earn for watching. Both sides of the exchange are recognised.

Why build it on Social.li?

Because an NFT issued inside a closed platform is still a row in that platform's database. On shared protocol infrastructure the asset outlives the application.
